Dr. Taher Kagalwala's Journey

Hi, I’m Dr. Taher Kagalwala, and I’d like to share a bit of my journey with you—one that I hope will inspire you to reach for your own dreams.

I come from humble beginnings, a lower middle-class family in Mumbai, India. My path to becoming a Paediatrician wasn’t easy, but it was always fueled by a deep passion for helping children. I graduated from the Seth G.S. Medical College and the K.E.M. Hospital in the 1980s, earning many laurels and awards on the way, and began practising in 1986. For the next 24 years, I practiced as a Consultant in Paediatrics in Mumbai, constantly striving to be better for my patients and myself.

However, life had other plans for me. In my 50s, I made the decision to move to Saudi Arabia. It wasn’t easy uprooting my life at that age, but I had a burning desire to learn more, achieve more, and prove to myself that I could keep growing. The road was tough. I studied like I’d never studied before, joined group sessions, dived into countless case studies, and gave it my all.

At the age of 55, I accomplished something I had only dreamed of—I passed the MRCPCH exams on my very first attempt! It wasn’t just a victory on paper; it was a validation of all the years of hard work, sacrifice, and determination.

In 2015, I moved to the UK and joined the Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where I continue working to this day. I started a new chapter in my career, filled with fresh challenges and opportunities. Over the past nine years, I have had the privilege of helping countless doctors crack the MRCPCH, just like I did. I became a citizen of the U.K. in 2022. I know what it’s like to fight for your dreams, to study into the late hours of the night, and to juggle work and family life while trying to achieve something greater.

That’s why I have created this online course—to give back, to share the knowledge I have gained over decades, and to help aspiring doctors like you achieve your dreams of working and living in the U.K. I know the path is challenging, but trust me, if I could do it, so can you.
